ZSC hits Oakland Zoo. Outside looking at eachother's work and inside. (It was the hottest day of the year..look closely, everyone's melting.)

One of our "kickin'" ZSC stickers

Anyway, since graduating from San Jose State, I have worked as both an animator and illustrator. I’ve illustrated for a variety of clients including, Hallmark Cards Inc, Nature Company, Wizard Magazine, and the Seaside Police Department. I love children’s books and was given the chance to illustrate my first, “The Silly Chicken”, which is now available (buy six or seven copies-see the ‘Illustration’ tab).

Animation production is another creative outlet for me. I started in animation as a traditional effects animator and worked my way to animation director. Along the way I was given the opportunity to work in the story department and storyboarding has become a new love. I have taught storyboarding, figure drawing, animal drawing, perspective drawing, and traditional/digital animation at Cogswell College in Sunnyvale.

I live with my lovely and patient wife, Lynette, and our beautiful daughter, Amara. We have a good assortment of hairless pets including fresh water fish, two snakes, an Axolotl (yeah they are real, look it up), and a blue tongued skink (that too).
I will always love drawing people and animals and I try to do so as often as possible. A group of students, fellow instructors, and members of Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators from the NorCal chapter have gotten together to draw at local zoos for what we call Zoo Sketch Crawl or “ZSC”. It’s an opportunity to draw as a group and then critique each other’s drawings. I’ll create a page in the near future where we can post the sketches we’ve done.

Actually this is me at one year.>> note Amara's resemblance to me, poor kid.

Here's Amara, much cuter than her pop, below right.
At left, is my hockey card...all right...I’d like to say that I played in the NHL in the late 80’s as a left-winger for the Quebec Nordiques, alas, in 1987 I was a junior at Roosevelt High School in Fresno and the little bit of hockey I paid attention to were games played by the Fresno Falcons. Still, it's cool to see your name a hockey card. To that Jeff Jackson if you're out there, I hope the game was good to you, sorry I missed being able to watch you play. (I'd love a jersey if you have one laying around).
